Possibilities and Limits of the Didactic Games Use in Chemistry Education at Grammar School: Redox reactions
Prokšová, Monika ; Bílek, Martin (advisor) ; Kuhnová, Marta (referee)
The thesis deals with the possibilities and limits in the activation of students when teaching chemistry as a general educational subject in grammar schools through didactic games in the thematic unit Redox Reactions. The use of didactic games in teaching should help students to acquire and better understand the relatively abstract subject matter, which undoubtedly includes redox reactions. Using didactic games, we also aim to improve students' attitudes towards the subject of chemistry. In the theoretical part the thesis describes the issue en-countered in the activation of students and their motivation to learn through didactic games. Furthermore, various activation methods are also presented here, where the main emphasis is mainly on didactic games. The practical part of the thesis in the introduction contains an analysis of the school education programs of selected gymnasiums, which focuses on the development of the thematic unit Redox reactions. In the next part, it is devoted to a set of 5 created didactic games on the selected topic (Redox reaction) inspiredby televisioncompe- titions or other well-known games that the relevant age group of students knows and uses. The set of didactic games will be created using so-called design research, i.e. in iterations from the prototype to the final...
Possibilities and limits of student activation in chemistry education at lower secondary school using didactic games: Particle composition of substances
Šelepa, Jan ; Bílek, Martin (advisor) ; Koperová, Dominika (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the possibilities of activating elementary school students in the topic of particle composition of substances using didactic games. The theoretical part discusses selected significant experts who have dealt with activation in the past, defines the concepts of activity and activation, and their importance in pedagogical practice. It also presents teaching methods and their possible classification, with a particular emphasis on didactic games (their definition, categorization, and significance). Subsequently, an analysis of critical topics in chemistry education at the elementary school level follows, within which a specific area of content ("particle composition of substances") was identified and for which individual didactic games were created. The topic of "particle composition of substances" is further analysed across several currently most used textbooks. The last chapter of the theoretical part focuses on introducing the so-called constructional research, which was chosen as the research method utilised for the purposes of didactic games creation. In the practical part, six protypes of didactic games were developed, which were subsequently modified based on feedback from two experts in the field of chemistry didactics, four experienced chemistry teachers, and their...
Comparison of Analytical-synthetic and Genetic methods os teaching primary reading
Šebl, Alena ; Wildová, Radka (advisor) ; Ronková, Jolana (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the teaching of early reading in elementary school. The thesis contains information about curriculum documents that are mandatory for primary school teaching in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the diploma thesis presents historical methods of teaching elementary reading, divided into synthetic and analytical methods, the described methods were used in the Czech Republic in the past. I have allocated separate chapters for the currently most used teaching methods of reading in the Czech Republic, these are analytical-synthetic, genetic and global methods, the global method is more detailed in the historical concept of reading teaching in the Czech Republic, as it is not central to my work. In the diploma thesis, you will also find basic strategies and features in the teaching of elementary reading and writing, which are common to all teaching methods. The aim of the diploma thesis was the comparison of analytical-synthetic and genetic methods of reading. I focused on comparing the methods according to the stages of teaching and tried to find the advantages and disadvantages of both methods. At the same time, I was interested in which of the methods used in teaching early reading is more common in Czech schools. This research includes, in the form of a short...
Activating methods of e-learning of Czech language in secondary schools during compulsory online learning
Setničková, Lucie ; Martinovská, Klára (advisor) ; Laufková, Veronika (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused on activating methods in online teaching of the Czech language and literature. The theoretical part includes an explanation of the concept of e-learning and clarifies the context of the start of compulsory distance education in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the thesis deals with activating methods and their division. The thesis divides axtivating methods into debating, situational, staging, didactic games and herustic. The practical part of the thesis is focused on action research. The aim was to find out how it is possible to transform activating methods into e-learning of Czech language and literature. Part of the research was finding resources that can be used to fulfill the various activating methods in e-learning and to examine amount of their effectiveness in teaching. Main research has been provided by active observations and making notes into pedagogical diary. Through observation, the thesis shows specific teaching methods and evaluates their effectiveness in the online environment oin secondary school ArtEcon Prague. These methods were practiced during the 2020/21 academic year. It has been found that all activating methods can be transferred to an online environment, but their effectiveness varies. Staging methods were chosen as the least effective and...
Laboratory Work on Plant Physiology and Anatomy and its Use at Primary School
Vágnerová, Kateřina ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (advisor) ; Odcházelová, Tereza (referee)
The presented master thesis is focused on practical teaching of the plant anatomy, morphology ad physiology at primary schools in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part contains a summary of the basic knowledge about plant morphology anatomy and physiology including integration of the practical teaching of natural science in Framework Education Programme and its extension into the School Education Programme. This part includes also detail theoretical background of teaching methods, which are suitable for laboratory work and didactic games. The second, practical part contains a detail description of the seven author's laboratory works and seven didactic games dealing with different topics from the plant anatomy, morphology and physiology, their practical evaluation on pupils of two primary schools and one secondary school including following detailed analysis of the realized questionnaire of these didactic materials. According to the obtained research data, it is obvious that the using of practical teaching form is more attractive for the pupils than conventional teaching methods at primary school.
Web computer game as an educational tool
Žemlička, Milan ; Vaňková, Petra (advisor) ; Novák, Jaroslav (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on a didactic game and its usage within an educational process. The subject of the thesis is, on the basis of the study of the expert literature and expertly focused primary resources from various fields, to create and test a functional web computer game with didactic content. The theoretical part focuses on the very phenomenon of a game; from a historical and philosophical point of view as well as from the current interpretation of electronic games and a game in the context of didactic methods. In the empirical investigation, the thesis contains the whole development of the game, possibilities of its modification depending on users and the implementation of the didactic game in teaching. In the conclusion, the results of the research are given and recommendations for the research area of the development of other educational tools using Web applications as games are made.
Methods Activating Students in Education of Chemistry
Kesnerová Řádková, Olga ; Bílek, Martin (advisor) ; Klečková, Marta (referee) ; Dobrovská, Dana (referee)
Topic: Methods of Activating Students in Education of Chemistry Author: Olga Kesnerová Řádková Abstract This dissertation work aims at teaching methods in the subject of chemistry and it concentrates mainly on methods with quite a high proportion of activation of pupils. The benefits and disadvantages of activating teaching methods, possible criteria for their choice, conditions for their putting into practice and similar, are described. Later, the work focuses on four chosen activating methods, namely brainstorming methods, project method, didactic games and work with a fictional and another type of a text which is applied here into natural science teaching, namely into chemistry teaching. A story with a chemical experiment can serve as an example. The research part contains a case study of putting project teaching methods into practice which includes a record and analysis of the condition and of the problem connected with its implementation, as well as the initiation of the project with the help of brainstorming methods. Participation observing, questionnaires, mini polls and discussions were used in our case study. Altogether 184 second year students for the teaching profession of the Pedagogical Faculty of Hradec Králové University took part in the research. On the basis of the results of the research...
